This project is a conversion of a swimming pool from chlorine to natural. We carried out the study, sizing and installation of a biological filter of the pool composed of submerged plants and gravel.
This biological filter is responsible for achieving the transparency of the water but it takes time, the water goes through different phases that depending on the case usually ranges between four to six weeks.
The first days the water will be totally crystalline but by the third week a noticeable turbidity is experienced. This change may seem alarming, but it is an essential and expected stage in the transition. The turbidity is due to the adaptation of the new ecosystem, where plants and microorganisms are establishing their balance. Around the fourth week or so, the pool regains its clarity.
This natural process highlights the importance of patience and the understanding that the temporary greening of the water is not a sign of pollution, but a necessary step for the plants to continue their autonomous development within the new ecological system. This change is not only beneficial to the environment, but also offers a healthier and more sustainable bathing experience.
The pool had an extension of 7×5 meters of which 7×3 meters were destined to the swimming pool and the rest was where the plants were inserted.
For those who do not know the term natural pool can also be called ecological pool or biopool, which through a series of natural purification systems can get the water quality is suitable for swimming. Filtering system
We have invented a new filtering system based on submerged autochthonous aquatic plants and with it we reduce both the cost of installation and the quantity of materials, now with a quantity of gravel of 30 cm everything is solved not as before that we used 70 cm.

Natural pool with recirculation
It is a system that employs the use of a pump to recirculate the water of the glass through the biological filter improving sensibly the behavior of the same one, being able to diminish its surface.
Phases of the water of the swimming pool
We want to show you by means of this video the the so called period of cycling of the swimming pool, which is neither more nor less than the time that takes the swimming pool to regulate itself and to obtain its balance. In the video you will see the different phases of evolution that the pool goes through. In three weeks the pool goes from an absolute clarity, to a quite important degree of turbidity, recovering in the fourth week its degree of transparency. For that reason when we see the green pool we should not be alarmed since it is a normal process through which they have to pass, since it is necessary to allow the plants to follow their own course.
Advantages of natural pools
Saving in purification products, since the plants and fish in the pool take care of this task. Plants and fish feed on microorganisms that appear in the pool without the need for products.
The water is not changed, it is enough to carry out a deep cleaning from time to time.
As they are natural pools and do not use any type of chemical substance, the problems of allergies are reduced in their totality.
In aesthetic matters, this type of swimming pools can adapt much better to our gardens and blend in with the vegetal environment.
Disadvantages of a natural swimming pool
The space required for a natural pool is much larger than that of a conventional pool, since two spaces are needed, one for the swimming pool and the other for the plants.
It is also necessary to take into account the number of people who bathe in the pool, because it is not the same to purify a pool in which 3 people bathe than 30, it is necessary to put a number of plants according to the number of people who will frequent the pool.
