Vegetal air conditioning

The feeling of coolness that we experience when we enter a forest is not magic.

1 liter of evaporated water = 0.64 KWh of cooling in the air

This is the natural way that plants use to cool themselves.

The SingularAir vegetal air conditioning system uses this cooling potential but also works as an air pollutant filter

Why is air filtration so important?

The sick building syndrome is a well-known concept that we all want to avoid.

The most common reason that causes this syndrome is the constant recirculation of air inside the building.

This is done with the aim of saving energy.

The result is energy savings and an accumulation of pollutants in the recirculated air.

To solve the problem of stale air, air purifiers have appeared, which usually use zeolite filters and other materials to absorb these recirculated pollutants.

The purchase of these filters and their maintenance is extremely expensive when compared to the acquisition and maintenance of plants capable of filtering these pollutants by themselves.

So, what does SingularAir vegetal air conditioning do?

Vegetable air conditioning is a new air conditioning system in which we force the air to recirculate through a vertical garden.

Bio-regulated refrigeration

One of the main advantages of plant air conditioning is its ability to self-regulate without the need for user intervention.

Vegetation controls the amount of water it evaporates based on environmental conditions: humidity and temperature, and its comfort needs are very similar to ours.

Plants evaporate more water when it is hotter and decrease evapotranspiration when it is colder.

But also forcing the air in this way causes various benefits:

FILTERS POLLUTANTS

Filters between 20% and 30% of suspended particles PM10 and PM2.5, and reduces up to 99% of these particles in 8 hours.

The species used are chosen in a personalized way to counteract the “Sick Building Syndrome.”

REGULATES TEMPERATURE

Uses the cooling potential of plants.

The vegetation cools the air, with the aim of cooling itself, while making an extra contribution of moisture generating a healthier environment.

ALLOWS ENERGY SAVINGS

Allows saving up to 80% of energy compared to a conventional air conditioning system.

Not only is it a cheaper system but it is also more sustainable when comparing water and energy consumption.

ABSORBS POLLUTANTS

SingularAir is the only air conditioning system that can effectively absorb a wide range of air pollutants by being absorbed by the plants.

SingularAir eliminates NOx in a closed environment

REGULATES HUMIDITY

SingularAir maintains relative humidity between 50% and 80%, preventing respiratory diseases.

Conventional air conditioning systems reduce relative humidity, drying the mucous membranes of our throat and lungs.

LESS MAINTENANCE

Unlike other filters, it does not require cleaning or replacement.

Maintenance tasks consist of periodic pruning of vegetation, punctual replacements, and review of system components. A free remote control service is included.

Also, in a space air-conditioned by SingularAir, the same feeling of freshness and air quality is experienced as when we enter a forest, with all the additional benefits of being in contact with nature..

SingularAir is an ideal air conditioning system for both offices and residential spaces, as these spaces can contain many chemicals and carbon monoxide that are causes of various health problems.

SingularGreen provides technical advisory services during the project design, installation development, and subsequently. Our goal is a perfect installation and commissioning of the garden. If you need information, please contact us through the form or call us at 966 282 640 – 673 768 624.

Operation of the System

The air conditioning system consists of two devices:

  • The first cools a refrigerant liquid using energy and expels the resulting heat to the outside
  • The second device passes air through an exchanger containing the cooled liquid producing cold air.

In this process, part of the moisture in the air condenses in the device, drying the environment.

The vegetal air conditioning system also has these two devices, but before reaching them, the air circulates through the vertical garden, which acts as a pollutant filter, increases the humidity of the air, and reduces its temperature by up to 3 degrees.

In this way, the energy efficiency of the process is increased since the air that reaches the device is cleaner, its temperature is lower, and the humidity is higher.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, SingularAir is designed as an indoor air recirculation and filtering system.

We could use the vertical garden as a pre-filtering system for outdoor air, but in that case, we would lose efficiency in both energy and particle and pollutant filtering. If you are interested in improving the air quality outdoors, we invite you to take a look at another product specifically designed for this purpose: Urban Bio Filter.

We calculate each project individually as its effectiveness varies depending on the ambient humidity of the city; for example, its effectiveness is greater in Madrid than in Alicante.

As an approximate measure, the dimensions we work with are:

Room size (m2) 50 100 200 400
Required garden surface (m2) 6 12 24 48

However, we can install small gardens to condition the air in a room or large green walls that can cool the air throughout an entire building.

In both cases, the air is captured through the vertical garden and distributed throughout all necessary rooms.

We always try to adapt to the existing air conditioning installation if possible.

SingularAir increases water consumption while reducing electricity consumption.

Each liter evaporated produces 0.64 kWh.

In terms of sustainability and ecology, using water for cooling is six times more efficient than using electric power.

4 m² of vertical garden is the complementary surface area of a conventional 2.5kW air conditioning unit that can cool an 80m² home.

However, this equivalence varies depending on the climate, ambient humidity, temperature, and species of the vertical garden.

Our technicians are at your disposal for any questions.

The system does not damage electronic devices, as the system’s self-regulation prevents humidity levels from reaching near 100%.

SingularAir prevents the spread of COVID-19 in two ways:

  • Directly, by filtering the virus and creating a high relative humidity environment that makes its spread difficult.
  • Indirectly, by improving the health of our respiratory system.

Maintaining a humid environment in enclosed spaces helps to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

According to a study by Yale University published in the Annual Review of Virology, as humidity increases, the virus’s spread decreases.

If you want to know more, you can access the following article, but the conclusion is that as humidity increases, the transmission risk decreases.

In addition, maintaining a low level of pollutants reduces the infection and mortality rate.

The vegetation in the SingularAir system is different from that of an indoor vertical garden.

In our vertical gardens, we carefully choose the species based on the customer’s needs and preferences, but it is true that with SingularAir, the choice also depends on the pollutants produced by the building.

Above all, we seek to ensure that the plant-based air conditioning system improves the quality of the environment and the health of the people who inhabit it.
