The European project LIFE SeedNEB continues to make progress across its implementation territories, consolidating its results in public space transformation, urban sustainability, and community engagement.
This second edition of the institutional newsletter compiles the main recent milestones and actions carried out by the consortium partners in Spain, Italy, and Hungary, as well as the project’s international outreach.
Key Milestones Covered in the Document
The newsletter details the following strategic interventions and activities:
- Completion of the Green Roof in Dunaújvaros (Hungary): The installation of the green roof at the nursery school in the Római neighborhood has been successfully completed. This intervention represents a local innovation that provides structural and environmental benefits far beyond aesthetics.
- Transformation of the Leonardo Sinisgalli School in Potenza (Italy): The urban and landscape transformation proposal for this educational center is finalized, aiming to convert the school grounds into a green, functional, and pedagogical environment.
- Second “Lorquí Respira Vida” Conference (Spain): The municipality of Lorquí held a week of activities focused on strengthening citizen involvement in improving local biodiversity and sustainability.
- Participation in the European New Bauhaus Festival 2026: The LIFE SeedNEB project had a prominent presence at this key gathering in Brussels, showcasing its participatory design methodologies and nature-based solutions.
Nature-Based Solutions: The Impact of Green Roofs
The document also includes a technical section focused on the sectoral benefits of green roofs on public buildings. Key advantages highlighted include significant rainwater retention, improved thermal insulation, reduced energy consumption, and the creation of new urban spaces oriented toward learning about biodiversity.
