Borrull public building,
Castellón
In Castellón, an innovative green roof project has transformed a public building, providing multiple environmental and aesthetic benefits to the community. This project reflects a commitment to sustainability and green urban development.
The green roofs extend over the terrace of the public building. The design and implementation has been carried out by a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that every aspect of the installation meets the highest standards of quality and functionality.
Environmental Benefits
One of the main objectives of this project has been to reduce the environmental impact of the building. Green roofs contribute to:
- Improve air quality: Plants help filter pollutants and produce oxygen.
- Reduce the heat island effect: By providing a layer of vegetation, green roofs help moderate temperatures both inside and outside the building.
- Increase biodiversity: The canopies are composed of a variety of native plants that attract birds, insects and other pollinators, fostering a healthy urban ecosystem.
- Manage rainwater: Vegetation and substrate help retain rainwater, reducing runoff and preventing flooding.
Design and Planting
The design of the green roofs was carefully planned to maximize both aesthetics and functionality. Low-maintenance native plants resistant to local climatic conditions were chosen, such as:
- Lygeum spartum
- Erigeron Karviskianus
- Lavanda dentata
- Lavanda officinalis
- Achillea millefolium
- Sedum
- Tradescantia spathacea
- Tradescantia zebrina
- Rosmarius officinalis
