Madnum,
Madrid

The vertical garden at the Madnum complex is a clear example of how vegetation can become a central feature in urban architecture.

The Madnum complex, designed by Estudio Lamela Arquitectos and developed by Colonial, was conceived as an innovative mixed-use development integrating offices, housing, and commercial spaces. SingularGreen was responsible for the design and execution of the vertical garden—an independent yet complementary intervention that brings unique environmental and aesthetic value to the building.

With 904.66 m² of living vegetation, the vertical garden covers the envelope of the Boreal Building and draws inspiration from the strawberry tree (madroño), a symbolic emblem of Madrid. The design mimics the texture and vitality of the tree through a careful selection of native and adapted plant species, combined with a modular system that ensures functionality, sustainability, and adaptability.

The hydroponic irrigation system, fully automated, together with integrated LED lighting, ensures water efficiency while offering a dynamic visual experience that evolves with the seasons and the day-night cycle.

This vertical garden not only improves the microclimate and air quality, but also enhances urban biodiversity and acts as a natural sound barrier. Located next to the public plaza of the complex, it becomes a social and cultural gathering space for users and visitors.

At SingularGreen, we bring our unique vision to life by creating innovative green solutions that complement and elevate architectural projects. We collaborate with major players such as Colonial and Estudio Lamela to build more sustainable cities that are deeply connected to nature.
